Blogging is one of the most efficient and effective marketing techniques you can do for your law firm. If done right, blogs will attract potential clients by providing educational content that your ideal client would be searching for. In this blog, you will learn what to blog about, what not to blog about, how often to blog, and the benefits of promoting your blog posts on your social media channels.

The Key to Success:

The key to success is to provide valuable content that answers the right questions. You want to present yourself as a credibile education center for potential clients so that when the time comes that they need a lawyer, they already trust you. They will have much more confidence in working with you becuase they have already learned a lot from you.

For example, if you are a personal injury attorney, you want to create blogs that answer commonly asked questions about personal injury cases. Regular and frequent blog posts signal that your website is active, current, and fresh. The more blog posts you have and the more questions you can answer, the more likely a prospective client searching the internet will want to work with you. After all, you’ve already answered tons of their questions! Topics are unlimited, but here are some ideas:

  • Answer FAQ's
  • Blog about your practice
  • Highlight your successes
  • Write about current events and updates
  • Research what your competitors are blogging about

  • Be too braggy
  • Blog about specific case or client details

"How often should I be blogging?"

This is another common question we get asked when starting a blog, and the answer is:

Frequently! However, “frequently” means different things for different law firms. Ultimately, it depends on your practice area, your location, ideal client demographics, the activity level of your competitors.

Promoting on social media:

Another tip is to promote your blog content on social media (click the link to read more about social media for your law firm). Promoting your blog on social media is one of the best ways to increase traffic from existing clients and reach new ones. Here are some of the beneifts of promoting blogs on popular social media platforms:

Facebook- this platform allows you the most flexibilty to share/say however much you want about your blog post. You could tell a story, give a very detailed descriptions, or really whatever you want.

Instagram- on this platform, a picture really is worth 1,000 words. Choose an eye-grabbing image that will attract people to your blog. Keep in mind, the only place to include a clickable link is in the account bio.

Twitter- this platform allows you to offer a sneak peak to your readers. Since you only have 140 characters, it's a good idea to share a quote or simply notify your audience that you have a new post.

LinkedIn- the biggest benefit here is sharing your blog content in LinkedIn groups. Find LinkedIn groups that are relevant to your industry, as well as the topics you discuss on your blog, and join the discussion.

Pinterest- this is a great platform to organize your blog posts by theme and create different board for different types of blog posts.

In conlusion, blogging is an important part of any successful inbound marketing strategy.
